Interactions between propolis and substances with antibiotic activity
Published reports confirm interactions of propolis with antibiotic substances, both positive and negative. One of the most important positive interactions is an increase in sensitivity of following bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Helicobacter pylori and Candida albicans on the associated activity of antibiotics and propolis. Propolis interacts also with volatile oils and their compounds. Many reports confirm the possibility of using positive interactions in order to obtain better therapy results with preparations containing propolis and antibiotic substances in treatment of dermatological and otorhinolaryngological diseases.
